I am interested in an apartment. What do I have to do to view it?

Do you have any semester or short-term leases available?

Most of our leasing is done on an August to August schedule. However, we do offer 9-month leases in certain circumstances. Please call us for current information regarding 9-month leases.

I know what apartment I want; how do I lease it?

To obtain a lease you must complete the following steps: 1. A completed rental application for the occupant of the apartment. A copy is available for download on our website. See "Rental Documents." 2. Pay the application fee. 3. Provide the security deposit appropriate for the type of apartment you would like to rent.

Who is responsible for utilities in the apartment?

Tenants are responsible for electricity and telephone, this includes the connection of these services at the start of your lease. The local utility companies and their contact information is listed below:

Amerens CIPS is the local utility company for residential services. You call call them at 1-888-789-2477 of visit their website at www.ameren.com.

Verizon is the local phone company. You can call them for installations at 1-800-483-5400 or visit their website at www.verizon.com.

How do I protect myself against accidents, fire and natural disasters?

University Apartments does not provide insurance to cover the personal or property losses of tenants. While we have an excellent record in helping our tenants out of difficult situations, we STRONGLY recommend that all of our tenants obtain renter's insurance. Renters insurance is an inexpensive way to make sure you are covered in the event that something bad happens to your apartment.

Who is responsible for maintenance in the apartment?

All maintenance is handled through the University Apartments office. Unless you have damaged the apartment by doing something silly like putting a fist through the wall, it is covered by your rent. University Apartments *employs a 24-hour maintenance service and requests can be made either through the website or by calling our office.
